German sportswear retailer has collaborated with India’s professional sprinter and national champion Dutee Chand for a period of two years. The 23-year old is the third Indian woman ever to qualify for the women’s 100m at the Summer Olympics and this is her first brand association.
“Dutee’s success is a result of a sheer display of her exceptional athletic capabilities and power on the track. Having rewritten the history of Indian sports in her explosive style, she represents everything we are as a brand,” said Abhishek Ganguly, Managing Director of Puma India on Dutee-Puma collaboration.
The sportswear company will equip Dutee with custom-made performance gear to support her efforts to better her performances.“It is great to see Puma encourage athletes across sporting fields and I am humbled by their trust in me to represent the brand in India. This means a lot to me and I am excited about my association with Puma,” expressed Dutee.
In her first exclusive brand association, the Indian sprinter has joined the list of athletes such as Mary Kom and Usain Bolt, who have already been associated with Puma. Dutee has represented India at various national and international sporting events, winning several medals and breaking a number of records. She clocked 11.32 seconds in a 100 m race at World University Games in Naples which fetched her gold.
Further adding, Ganguly said, “This partnership further reinforces our commitment to the sports ecosystem in India and we believe she will have a big influence in shaping the future of Track and Field in the country.”
